Patrick Boghossian finds gems

From Icelandic sea cliffs, he created Steps to Heaven, stackable rings made with ascending sizes of lined gemstones and from Gaudi’s masterpiece La Sagrada Familia he took lights of jade green malachite for a medley of playful shapes. Patrick Boghossian finds gems across the world and turns them into jewels.

‘Launching my jewelry brand has always been a dream’ says Patrick. He started thinking about the idea in 2021. He took a year to build the business and has now launched his website and Instagram page, but really the young jeweler has been sketching since forever. He started with a range of collections displaying the depth of his imagination. A trip to Iceland, the shininess of the water, the color gradient from dark to lighter blue, to white, inspired the Waterfall collection, a blend of sapphires and diamonds sets linked together with free movement, a finesse in the construction also found in his Red Bricks collection made with rubies encrusted in gold, reflecting the resilience of age-old masonry blocks. From the gushing cascades of Iceland, the Seljalandsfoss, he imagined bright pieces with straight streams of gold dotted with diamond droplets, like sun rays light shining through the water; the Cascade collection. The old corners of Beirut inspired the Wall collection, multicolored tourmalines stacked as strong structural elements designed to outlast trials and tribulations. ‘This is just the beginning…’ Patrick’s jewelry is inspired by travel, stories and emotions, and engraved with his signature modern art deco style. An artist at heart, Patrick is a musician and a photographer. Based in London, the young entrepreneur wants to continue to encourage local businesses in his home country. His jewelry pieces are produced between Beirut, Dubai and London. As for the business side of jewelry and techniques, he fell into it when he was a little boy…

Born in a family of diamond traders, Patrick grew up with the knowledge of six generations of jewelers. His grandfather started as a gemstone trader at the heart of the silk road, and the legacy continued, with generations of jewelers and diamond traders spanning businesses across Europe, the United States and the Middle East. When he was 8 years old Patrick would already go to jewelry fairs, to the office, he quickly became passionate. This enabled him to build a network of manufacturers and came in handy when he decided to launch on his own ‘the industry can be quite secretive and it is not easy to penetrate.’ This is also how he started designing his first custom wedding rings. Patrick developed a passion for sourcing gemstones; diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, malachite, tourmalines; ‘I look at color, purity, cut, shininess...’. He handpicks his suppliers for their quality and work ethic, Kimberly Process certified (prevents ‘conflict diamonds’), RJC certified (ethical human and environmental practices). The adventurer visits mines across the globe and was particularly marked by a trip to Sri Lanka, a woman mine owner, a rarity in that industry, who provides for her entire family. Patrick initially studied Business Management and Economics at McGill University. He decided to take a gemology course at GIA New York, worked in Belgium then moved to London for a jewelry design course at the Gemological Institute and fell in love with the craft. During his course he documented ideas, took pictures, wrote thoughts and relentlessly drew in his sketchbook. He joined Taylor & Hart a leader in the custom engagement and wedding rings industry and honed his skills in design, customer relationships, marketing… ‘a transformative experience’, before launching on his own. With his wild imagination the jeweler keeps in mind an astute business plan; a new entry price minimalistic collection, getting the word out there through fairs and press coverage for the medium term and finally for the long term to be represented by luxury retailers, have his own workshop and why not eventually his own Patrick Boghossian storefront.
