Hop on a pink horse across fields of multicolored flowers and let the rainbow highway lead you onto the clouds… with Petit Bois’ collectible children toys we delve into the endless imagination of our little ones.
Petit Bois is the brainchild of a couple of architects, Brayen and Ghiwa who set out to create modern, handcrafted wooden toys designed to spark the imagination and creativity of little ones. Brayen grew up learning carpentry in his father’s workshop, while Ghiwa has always been passionate about product design. ‘Petit Bois was born from our shared love for contemporary design and admiration for children's boundless imagination. As architects, Brayen and I wanted to merge our skills into something meaningful.’ Mint blue, powder pink, kaki or orange ‘Premier Galop’ wooden horse is designed to foster mobility, balance and coordination on children’s first adventures. ‘Tête dans les Nuages’ is the dreamy baby gym with little clouds and fluffy charms. More recently Petit Bois has released staples to accompany key moments of children’s lives, from the pastel colored little Tabouret to the Petit Marquis dining chair. With a combination of Brayen’s woodworking expertise honed from a young age, and Ghiwa’s artistic touch, the duo creates whimsical wooden toys and staples set to become part of children’s wonderland. ‘Our combined backgrounds in architecture, craftsmanship, and design allow us to create toys that are both meaningful and timeless.’
Sweet colors, sleek shapes and functionality, each toy at Petit Bois is ‘handcrafted with care, combining traditional woodworking techniques with modern design principles.’ The duo imagines the pieces, selects high-quality sustainably sourced wood then meticulously shapes and finishes each piece, ending with a pop of color, a thoughtful process rooted in craftsmanship. ‘We chose wood for its durability, natural beauty, and sustainability, perfect for creating toys that last and can be passed down through generations We ensure every toy is safe, durable, and aesthetically pleasing while maintaining an eco-friendly production approach.’ A commitment also reflected in their packaging, ‘our toys come in reusable 100% cotton bags,’ conceived to be reused as a laundry bag, a toys bag, a picnic bag, or, wherever parents’ imagination takes them. Ghiwa and Brayen are now working to expand their product line and further develop their kids' woodworking workshops. ‘As architects, we aim to create a workshop where children can learn the basics of woodworking while nurturing their creativity and hands-on skills. These workshops will inspire kids to engage with sustainable materials and develop an appreciation for craftsmanship.’ Patience, generational skills, passion, some handy tools and a wave of magic wand, are Petit Bois’ ingredients for artsy, fun, educational pieces destined to unleash the imagination of little ones.
